Wilderness treks

We are known for our a three day wilderness trek experience, which is more than just a hike. It’s an opportunity for high school students to escape their daily lives and focus on what’s important for them to move forward as an individual. The entire program, from pre-visit, to the wilderness trek and post visit, is designed to help students identify and make changes to their lives that can see them succeed in the future.

Some schools choose to participate in a canoeing pre-visit, which offers teachers an opportunity to work with students in an unfamiliar environment and discuss the upcoming trek. Following the trek, some schools also choose to run a celebration activity to review the program and celebrate success.

All wilderness treks are adapted to suit the needs of the visiting groups, and can be framed as leadership, support or self-confidence focussed treks.

All backpacking equipment is supplied and maintained by the centre. Visiting teachers and students just need to bring clothing, toiletries and some snacks. The rest of the program will be managed by the trek leader.
